Lavinia PlonkaLavinia Plonka is known throughout the US as a dynamic and innovative teacher and writer who uses movement as a tool for personal development and health improvement. Her movement experience ranges over 30 years, including mime, yoga and the martial arts. She was an artist in residence for the Guggenheim Museum and movement consultant for theater and television companies around the world, from the Irish National Folk Theater to Nickelodeon. Her popular workshops have been sponsored by organizations ranging from Esalen to the Feldenkrais Guild of North America to many hospitals and physical therapy clinics around the US. She is currently the director of Asheville Movement Center in Asheville, NC which offers a complete movement curriculum as well as private Feldenkrais lessons.
As a specialist in movement, Lavinia's research has included everything from ancient Indian texts on body language to the cutting edge work of Moshe Feldenkrais. Lavinia's first book, What Are You Afraid Of? A Body/Mind Guide to Courageous Living, has been translated into five languages. In addition, she has produced 3 audio CDs that have helped people with everything from airplane travel to writer's block. Her new book, Walking Your Talk: Changing Your Life Through the Magic of Body Language is available at bookstores nationwide and is a One Spirit Book Club Selection.
