Susan Dierenfeldt-Troy

Susan Dierenfeldt-Troy is a Miami, Florida based attorney. Her practice focuses on intellectual property law and business/corporations law.

Prior to attending law school, she worked many years as a research scientist in the academic arena and later served as both an R&D Group Leader and New Products Quality Assurance Manager with an international medical diagnostics company. Later, she was a consultant for FDA-regulated companies. While working in academics, Susan was the senior as well as the junior author of papers published in peer-reviewed scientific journals. She also previously developed employee training programs related to quality assurance and FDA regulations. Susan is currently serving as an adjunct professor in the Legal Assistant Program
at Jones College, Miami, Florida.

Her intellectual property law legal services include negotiating and drafting copyright, patent and trademark licensing as well as assignment agreements; drafting non-disclosure (confidentiality agreements); and obtaining federal trademark and federal copyright registrations. She also advises clients on the steps they should take to protect their valuable trade secrets.

Susan provides business/corporations law legal services related to corporate buy-outs and start-ups, shareholder agreements; operating agreements; employee handbooks; employment agreements; commercial property leases; franchise agreements; and business asset sales or purchases.

Susan also advises attorneys practicing in areas of the law wherein underlying intellectual property rights may be an issue. For example, in the area of family law, royalties a wife is expected to receive in the future under a patent licensing agreement may be deemed marital property subject to equitable distribution under Florida law.
