The longtime holiday of Thanksgiving is a perfect reminder of one of the most sacred spiritual practices we can bring into our lives; the practice of gratitude. Practicing gratitude serves us on so many levels including better health, greater success, improved relationships and an increased sense of happiness and well-being. A daily practice of gratitude brings ease, peace and joy into your life faster than any other single thing you can do.
Holding a Thanksgiving Gratitude Share at Your Gathering
Kids and adults alike love a good gratitude share. Even if they are wary or reticent when you start, you will see a smile on their faces and feel the love in their hearts as the share takes place. A group gratitude share can take place anytime throughout your holiday celebration. You may choose to do it before or during your meal, before or after a prayer, over cocktails and appetizers or while taking a walk. The place or time doesn’t matter; it is the intention that counts. (Note: it is not recommended during the football game. ~ lol)
Steps for a Gratitude Share:
- GATHER everyone and tell them you’ll be doing a gratitude share. Let them know why you’re doing it… “We have so much to be grateful for and since it is Thanksgiving, I thought it would be fun and wonderful for all us of to tell everyone the things they are most grateful for.”
- ASK for someone to start. You can choose to go around the table or circle or you can do a free style and invite them to chime in as they are so inspired.
- SETTING A THEME is an option. You can ask them to share something they are grateful for about something specific: someone in the room, something at work or school, something they learned, someone they met, a special experience they had, a goal they achieved or wish that came true. A specific theme may help stimulate the share getting started and then you can open it up to any subject as they become more comfortable. TIP: You can even create pieces of paper with themes and let them pick their theme out of a basket to share.
- HOW LONG does it last? Your gratitude share can be a few short minutes or it can go on as long as you like. You’ll find that some of the shares will illicit memories and great conversation making your holiday celebration even more memorable.
YOUR Gratitude Share Serves to Raise the Vibration of People and the Planet
It’s true! Sharing gratitude raises the mood and vibration of ourselves, everyone we share it with and the space we’re in; and these good feelings and vibes go on to raise the vibration of the planet and people everywhere. Hearing what others are grateful for is a great reminder of things we may have forgotten or that we take for granted therefore bringing more awareness of the good in our own lives. The Law of Attraction tells us that being grateful brings to us even more things to be grateful for ~ and we could all benefit from that!
Wishing You and Yours a Happy Thanksgiving filled with much love, many blessings and great joy!
